On the 17th October 2009 Scheherazade Foundation organized a telethon together with National Authority for Child Protection and Realitatea TV. Total funds raised through this gala was 70.000 Euro, which will be used to renovate Pinocchio placement Center in sector 1 of Bucharest, which provides care to 50 children from the street, from the families where they were abused, abandoned, orphaned as well as refugees.
For three hours, politicians, doctors, artists, sports men and various public figures answered hundreds of calls. The participants were impressed by the high number of calls from ordinary people who called to donate for the children in difficulty.
By the end of the show total funds raised were 70 000 Euro from sponsors : Fundatia Vodafone, Enel, Autoitalia, Carrefour and Baneasa Shopping Center, most of the funds were raised by phone calls during the show which was sponsored by Romtelecom and also by 2 euro sms on Vodafone, Orange and Cosmote.
In data de 17 Octombrie 2009, românii au arătat din nou că pot fi oameni. Prin intermediul teledonului “Gala Scheherazade” organizat de catre Fundaţia Scheherazade in parteneriat cu Autoritatea Nationala pentru protectia Drepturilor Copilului şi Realitatea TV, s-au strâns aproximativ 70.000 de euro, bani ce vor fi folosiţi pentru Centrul de Plasament Pinochio sectorul 1 din Capitală, unde sunt adăpostiţi 50 de copii abandonati, orfani ,abuzaţi sau refugiati.
Timp de trei ore, politiceni, medici, artişti, sportivi sau magistrati au răspuns la sutele de apeluri care au înroşit liniile telefonice.
Până la finalul emisiunii s-au adunat din donaţii 70.000 de euro, de la sponsori(Fundatia Vodafone, Enel, Autoitalia, Carrefour si Baneasa Shopping Center), telefonic in timpul emisiunii prin liniile Romtelecom, dar şi printr-un sms în valoare de 2 euro din reţelele Vodafone, Orange şi Cosmote.
